CULTURAL HERITAGE
Houses, castles, gardens and stone circles
There are lots of country houses, castles, gardens and archaeological sites and museums to explore from Goukstone.
Aberdeenshire is famous for its castles and we are fortunate enough to have fine examples at Haddo House, Tolquhon Castle, Fyvie castle, Pitmedden House and Gardens all less than 20 minutes away.
Our local heritage is well documented at the Museum of Farming Life at Aden Park where an original croft house has also been preserved. The Heritage Museum at nearby Tarves provides an insight into life in rural Aberdeenshire and the farming displays at Pitmedden House are an interesting addition.
Going back even further, Aberdeenshire is also famous for its recumbent stone circles with one of the best examples found at Loanhead of Daviot only a short drive away.
